How to build a raised garden bed.In this DIY video, we show you how to make a raised vegetable garden bed in your backyard using timber sleepers. This no-dig garden is ideal for any backyard, and it's simple to build using timber sleepers.Garden expert Adam Woodhams built and planted this raised 2.4 x 1.2m garden bed in just a day using timber sleepers and metal posts. Holes had to be dug for the posts, but the sleepers were then simply slotted in. This bed was for growing edibles, so we chose a location that received at least 4-5 hours of direct sunlight a day and wasn’t exposed to a lot of wind. Herbs and annual flowers could be grown instead of vegies, but if you’re planning to use the bed for other types of plants, choose a site with sun levels that suit the species being used. The best thing about this project is that you only need basic skills and tools, and you can plant seedlings to get a jump-start on your crops.
